General Details

  • Our first day of school is Tuesday, August 25th.
  • Wednesday, August 26th will be a full day of school.
  • Early release Wednesdays start on Wednesday, September 2nd where we release at 1:50. If students are a part of a musical/fall play/sport, they will be able to stay at school and be supervised until their practice or rehearsal begins at 2:50.
  • Cell Phones: Students will store their cell phones in their lockers during the school day. They may have them out on the school bus. We will send more details prior to school starting.
  • Outside drinks (QT/Starbucks): We ask that students not bring outside drinks with them to school. Only water is allowed in the classrooms. The sugary drinks will stain our carpet and attract insects into lockers, so if something is brought from home for lunch, it will need to be thrown away prior to leaving the cafeteria. Our car riders and bus riders have to wait in the gym until the bell dismisses them to the classroom area and we are unable to allow anything other than water in our gym.
  • LMS Back to School Night (for students and parents): Monday, August 31,  6p-7:30p.

Returning Student Registration

You can access the Returning Student Registration through your parent PowerSchool portal

See below for some helpful hints when completing the registration:

  • The registration will have you update your student's contact & emergency contact information as well as any housing or medical updates as needed.
  • You will have the option to navigate to the transportation website within the registration to Opt-In for bus transportation. If your student needs bus transportation, this Opt-In must be completed.
  • You will find updates regarding school meals and SchoolCafe
  • All handbook & district agreements will be available to review during the online registration.

Transportation Information

Completing the Opt-In Transportation form annually is the only way to have your eligible student assigned to a bus route. Due to the high volume of activity at school start up, requesting transportation the week before school starts could cause a delay of up to two weeks for bus service. If you have any questions, please call Transportation at 816-736-5360.

LPS will be sending transportation directly to parent emails.  This will include drop off/pick up information.  Please make sure that you have opted into transportation if you want your child to ride the bus.  This is done through the returning student registration process listed below.
